There is a new art collective in town! Athens Area Potters has a spiffy new website. The website features potters, our work, and studio sales and tours.

I’ll have work in a sale on Sat., Sept 7th, 10 AM – 4 PM with Lori Demosthenes, at her studio in Watkinsville. The address is: Pastures of Rose Creek. 1051 Rose Creek Dr., Watkinsville, GA.  This sale coincides with the Perspectives ceramics show at OCAF, so pottery fans please stop by!

“Elemental Clayscapes by Love Hawk & Mendelwhite” will be exhibited at The Lyndon House from August 20 – October 12, 2019. The opening party will be September 5th from 6-8 PM.
David Hale (aka Love Hawk) and I have been collaborating for most of this year. Mostly I throw the pots and he does the sgrafitto on the outside. On one (the jar pictured) we worked on the sgrafitto imagery together, and we plan to do more this way.
David is really easy to work with – he likes to try new things and is determined to make it work. But when things don’t work out as we’d planned, he chalks it up to the learning process and keeps going. He’s a quick study and also generous with his own knowledge and insights about art and all kinds of things.

Held a sale of my work at my home in Athens.

August 2017
Began renting a studio space at Good Dirt, Athens, Georgia’s community clay center. Good Dirt is home to ceramics classes, workshops, camps and has an independent studio option. I was fortunate to be able to rent one of the few private studio spaces there. It’s a busy, wonderful place fostering creative expression for all ages and skill levels. http://www.gooddirt.net

June 2017
Did a two-week residency program at Hambidge in North Georgia. For their Summer 2017  arts residency program they received 234 applications for 72 spots and was very honored to be chosen as a fellow. I worked undisturbed in their beautiful ceramics studio on the peaceful and gorgeous 600 acres of Hambidge.  Nine other artists were there from a broad array of disciplines.  http://www.hambidge.org

2006 – Had a piece accepted into the 32nd Juried Exhibition, Lyndon House Art Center. Athens, GA.

May 2005
Graduated with a BFA from the University of Georgia Ceramics Department. The main professors there were Ted Saupe and Sunkoo Yuh (and still are as of 5/2018). I actually began working on my degree at UGA in 1988 with ceramicists Ron Meyers and Andy Nasisse, both now retired. (I took a “small” break from college somewhere in there!)

May 2005   Participated in the BFA Exit Show of the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
